Why more people are giving up on duvet covers for good
Changing the bed has quietly become one of the hardest jobs in the house. One simple change means there's nothing to put on at all.

Ask around and you hear the same thing: the duvet is the worst part of changing the bed. Turning the cover inside out. Hunting for the corners. Arms up over your head, shaking until it finally sits right.
For a lot of people it has quietly become a two-person job, or a job that gets put off for another week.
“I'm 71 and wrestling a duvet cover had become a real job.”
The cover was never the point
A duvet cover exists because ordinary duvets are hard to wash. They're bulky, they take ages to dry, and the filling moves about. So we wrap them in a bag and wash the bag instead.
The cover gets washed every week or two. The duvet underneath, about twice a year, if that.
Changing the bed, before and after
What if there were nothing to put on?
The One-Piece Duvet™ from Straight to Bed, who paid for this article, is duvet and cover in one. You lay it on the bed and smooth it out. That's it.
When it needs a wash, the whole thing goes in your washing machine at home at 30°C. The filling sits in BoxLock™ chambers closed on every side, so it stays where it belongs, wash after wash.
What changes
Strip it, wash it, back on the bed. No cover to wrestle on, no corners to find, nobody to call for help. It comes in five sizes and nine colours, with two matching pillowcases free and 100 nights to try it at home.
What owners say
Very happy
Really soft and comfy. I feel nice and warm under it, but I haven’t been getting too hot during the night. Very happy with it.
So much less fiddly
Not having to put a duvet cover on is my favourite thing about it. Just give it a shake and straighten it out on the bed. So much less fiddly.
The filling stays where it should, so we’re not having to keep shaking it back into place. No lumpy bits or thin patches so far. We’re both pleased with it.
